Single-Use bioreactors are increasingly favored for the economic advantages they offer. Many mammalian cell based biotech producers are moving to disposable modules, pre-sterilized and qualified according to regulatory requirements. Benefits of single-use bioreactors include faster facility set-up, reduction of down time, simplified validation, and more efficient use of plant floor space. Disposable bioreactors greatly reduce the risk of cross contamination in multi product facilities.

Applikon offers a selection of single-use bioreactors in two basic formats:

  • Flexible bag bioreactors
  • Rigid stirred tank bioreactors


Both bioreactor designs offer measurement and control of important process parameters.

The Appliflex flexible bag systems support both classical electrochemical sensor technology and optical sensors for pH and dissolved oxygen. Appliflex bioreactors are supplied in 10 liter, 20 liter and 50 liter total volume.

The CellReady bioreactor is a disposable version of the Applikon 3 liter glass autoclavable bioreactor and can be used as a direct replacement of these systems.

For both systems the standard controller is the Applikon ez-Control.
